Can anyone help me with lens selection for a nex-c3?

I bought the set which came with the pancake lens and the 18-55 lens, but i think i also want to have another zoom lens, maybe something up till about 200/250/300 or so.
Of course i would like to have the 18-200 lens sony currently has, but $800 is a bit too much for me atm. Would it be an option to buy a very good quality lens without all the automatic stuff? I would not mind finding out how all the manual stuff (aperture etc) would work but i have no clue what sort of lens would fit on the camera. Could i fit anything on it, or what sort of thing would i have to look for to make it fit?
