Just got the Nex 5N for Christmas from my wife. Just curious as to why you would think it may be a downgrade? I haven't started shooting yet with the NEX 5N, waiting for the battery to finish charging.
I know the NEX-5N is an upgrade, but I'm referring to the older NEX-5 which I have. The reason I'm asking is that NEX-C3 has gone down numerically, but from what I read later is an improvement over the older NEX-5.
More curious than anything else about how they decided on the numbers they used? Part of the learning curve for me. That's all.

PS, Don't confuse the NEX-3 with the NEX-C3. They are apparently two completely different camera's.

Hi Bruce, i hope this website can help you decide:
Sony C3 vs NEX-5
so i have a Sony NEX-C3, and it really depends on what you plan to use them for.
the website above states that the NEX-5 is an overall winner, but only on the back of it having Full HD video.
the NEX-5 has 1080p Full HD, better fps rate (7fps v 5.5fps for nex-c3)
the NEX-C3 has 720p HD, but has 2MP (16MP v 14MP for nex-5) more information - which is not a massive difference in quality (maybe 10% better), has better battery life, 10% smaller physical size and has half a f-stop better ISO light sensitivity.
so take your pick really, I'm happy with the NEX-C3 - i rarely use video and i don't need the full HD, id rather the 10% extra image quality.
i hope this helps you!
