    Infrared photography

Good evening to all. I just bought a GF1 (still traveling), my project is to use the camera mostly with Leica lenses. Does anyone have experience in 'the behavior of the sensor in the infrared photography with the right filter

I want to try infrared with either my G1 orG2. I'm such a dummy, that I don't even know how to start.
    Any suggestions?

I'm looking very hard at doing this as well. But it comes down to two choices; pay to have the infrared blocking filter removed from the sensor of the camera or use it as is with an IR filter and very long exposure times.
The camera sensors will see infrared but because the manufacturers cover the sensor with a blocking filter you can only shoot still images in bright sunlight with a tripod.

In other words if you don't do a conversion you can't shoot hand held.

This is the best deal I've found so far on conversions. Look at the time lapse video at the bottom of the page. Spencers Camera & Infrared Conversions

    Thanks for the explanation.
If I understand correctly using the traditional black filter I get the results I get with the old IR film (perhaps with the same exposure times and using a tripod) while if I delete the filter on sensre I get the same results but with exposure times normal

That's pretty much it. With the conversion you can also view your shot in infrared on the LCD. Which means that with the GH1 you can shoot infrared video.
There's a Top Rated seller on ebay that does the LX5 conversions for $125. I doubt the GH1 would be much more.
