    retroactive groundbreaking

I want something simple and cheap. I don't need autofocus, I don't need auto exposure control (although it may be easier to include it than provide the manual controls I would really prefer). I'd like to see a simple optical viewfinder with a good focusing screen in a digital body. Now for the interesting part. I'd like interchangeable mounts - or multiple models with dedicated mounts - for pentax m42, canon FD, nikon AI, minolta and/or conica/yashica.
This camera would allow use of the vast inventory of fixed focus and zoom lens in these
"obsolete" lens mounts and appeal to those of us that know an f-stop from depth-of-field. It would have to retail for less than the introductory current line systems ($500 or so) could be 8 or 10 or 12 megapixels and provide a wonderful photographic experience.

Have you thought about one of the micro 4/3 cameras with an adapter for each of the different brands of lenses that you have? That's what I'm doing. I went with the Olympus E-PL1 and an adapter for OM system lenses, one for Nikon AI lenses and one for Tamron adaptall 2 lenses. I can now use all of my old lenses with manual focus on a digital body with a 12 megapixel sensor and great firmware and software. I can adjust the f-stop to get the depth of field that I want and I can just have fun.
