Hi, has anyone compared the electronic finders on the Olympus EP2 and the Panasonic G2? I have heard suggestions that the EP2 is the best.

I haven't tried that of the EP2 so I can't compare, but you can read about it in DPReview, and then compare with that of the Panasonics. Of course they also talk about it in the E-PL1 Review stating that:
Then there is this DPReview's user comment (link):The E-PL1 has an accessory port, so can mount the same optional VF-2 electronic viewfinder as used by the E-P2. It's probably the best EVF we've used, offering a large, bright, detailed preview with an excellent 60hz refresh rate.
But in the same thread (link):I compared the VF2 directly to the G1's VF, and I must say it is better. I use it for macro work, and the image snaps into focus just like the E3 OVF.
I can't be of more help, so I hope someone here has compared both. I would also like to hear.No. Far better than the GF1 add on EVF, but not as good as the GH1 EVF which gives a wider view. But the VF-2 is excellent and really adds to the E-PL1.
Jim Radcliffe has compared both on his website. He uses a GF1 now also after selling off his M8 and discusses the equipment from a useability point of view. I rather like the way he discusses the camera's and he's relaxed photography.
Here is a snippet on the EVF's:
January 11, 2010: The Electronic Viewfinder for the GF1 has finally arrived and I have had a lot of fun playing with the thing. I can tell you that I consider it a must have accessory for the GF1. I do not find the resolution to be an issue. Yes, it could be better but it is primarily a focusing aid for me. I know for a fact that there will be more than one occasion in bright sunlight where this little device will save the day and allow me to get the shot I wanted when the LCD was totally useless. It also helps a lot with manual focusing.
Update: March 22, 2010: I had a chance to compare the EVF of the Oly EP2 to this one and I have to say the Oly beats the pants off of the Panasonic EVF. I now wish I had never looked through it as now I know what I am missing. Bigger, brighter, better resolution. Panasonic needs to upgrade this EVF. Still, the EVF for the Panasonic is a must have accessory as it is the only way to frame shots when the LCD is washed out in the sun or you are attempting critical manual focus.
Olympus EVF VF-2 is superb ... see here for comparison, just look at the pictures and figure out the English

But he has compared the current optional viewfinders from both Panasonic and Olympus (that of the GF1 with that of the EP2), while the OP was asking for a comparison of the optional Olympus viewfinder and the integrated viewfinder of a G2 (or G1/GH1).
The link posted by hanzo is really interesting.
The Oly is really the best. I have it and did have a G1 before I sold it. The G1 is noisier especially in low light. The Oly stays bright and sharp even in low light.
The refresh rate is better on the Oly.
The real issue is not which is better but which form you prefer in a camera. The G1 is more than useful and I prefer it to the OLY's because of the form factor.
You gotta love this translation! However, the actual point and a higher contrast look, delay of display, with their sweetheart contour, and color reproduction is low, the optical viewfinder is still no match for the impression. Pinto is also easy to grab the mountains, do not compare to the optical viewfinder.
