The one lens type missing from μ4/3 manufacturers' offerings ...

Maybe it's time that Olympus or Panasonic or a third party manufacturer offered a μ4/3 tilt and shift lens? For example, a 12mm T&S would be so very useful for architectural photographers. Some might suggest that perspective correction software can be a good substitute but it can never achieve the results of a proper T&S lens.

    Cheers

Good idea - I'll ask some product managers on the photokina next month!

Well, that's exactly the lens I'd kill for... That and only that. Or a 14mm.

I would not use it for architecture but for landscape photography where it allows you to get everything in focus while keeping a larger lens aperture for faster shutter speeds (to prevent any motion blur, unless that's what you are looking for, like with water) and to prevent loss of resolution because of diffraction at small apertures, something specially important with small sensors.

But if they didn't release a lens like this for Four Thirds I don't see why they are going to do it for Micro Four Thirds now, specially when the system is still targeted to amateurs at best and there are so many lenses that people expect to come first... So it's not going to happen in a lot of years.

I hope to be proven wrong though.

That's not a real solution, not for me. Where do you get a 12mm to use with?

As far as I can see allows this adapter only tilting, but not shifting, right?
And it's only a mechanical solution - a real T&S lens would have a much bigger image circle.

Lensbaby - Composer with Tilt Transformer - Lens for Micro 4/3rds and Sony NEX | Tilt Adapter

Never seen or used one, but with the idea of interchangeable optics it may open up a lot of opportunities.

    Tilt/shift

You can get tilt/shift (or at least tilt) adapters for M43 and use a regular 35mm WA lens on the adapter to get the large image circle--but it would be really nice to have a short focal length lens + tilt/shift. There's an 18mm FL Olympus OM wideangle which would be equivalent to 36mm, but (a) 36mm is still too long--equivalent 24mm would be nice-- and (b) the 18mm Olympus is pretty expensive, used.

    So a native T/S 24mm equivalent lens for M43 would,indeed, be a desirable accessory.
